Solar Sunflower System
In a partnership between the Henry Vilas Zoo, Madison Gas & Electric and H&H Solar Energy Services, the Zoo has installed a large solar energy panel in the Flamingo yard that feeds into the local power system. This solar panel generates clean energy from the sun, producing one-quarter of the annual energy use of a home. It protects the environment by offsetting 3,900 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions and avoids burning 2,700 pounds of coal per year.
The Henry Vilas Zoo and the
Friends of the Zoo thanks MG&E and H&H Solar Energy Services for their continued community partnership.
