We would like to thank MG&E's Construction Team,
led by Dennis Steinhorst, for rebuilding our indoor
primate structures. The existing structures, located in
the Colobus/Lemur, Chimpanzee and Orangutan
exhibits all needed replacement. The project began
with the removal of all the old material. This was
no small task because both old and new material had
to be taken out by
hand through inside
doorways and hallways.
New structures were
built as requested by
our Zoo staff, Primate
Keeper Mary Schmidt
who worked closely
with Dennis Steinhorst and his MG&E team. The
results are excellent! The new structures encourage
natural behavior. Even older primates enjoy climbing
to the very top, which allows visitors to have a much
better view of the primates. During the past two s
ummers, MG&E has replaced the outdoor great ape
structures. Both indoor and outdoor rebuilt exhibits
are terrific additions to your Zoo. MG&E's Support is
greatly valued and appreciated!
