Guest Services volunteers
Guest Services volunteers at the Zoo work in a variety of ways to ensure that Zoo guests get the most out of their visit to the Zoo.
Your first step is to attend an upcoming "All Aboard" Zoo Volunteer Preview event where you'll be able to register for a training session in the area where you would like to volunteer. To register, email volunteer@vilaszoo.org or complete the volunteer form at the bottom of this page.
Sessions begin in January to prepare volunteers for the start of our busy season in March.
Be the Face of the Zoo!
Face of the Zoo volunteers greet zoo guests from March through November, as the weather allows, ensuring that they get the most out of their visit to the zoo. We're looking for volunteers who love the zoo, enjoy talking with people, and like to be outside.
Children are encouraged to volunteer if accompanied by an adult. Service groups and other clubs/organizations or companies are also welcome to "adopt" a shift and share responsibility for being at an information booth during the same time each week.
Henry the Lion
Looking for a ROOOOOOOARING good time? Dress up as Henry the Lion! This opportunity allows you to walk around in our mascot costume and interact with visitors. You must also have another volunteer with you to help out.
ALL ABOOOOOOOOARD the conservation carousel and train!!!
Did you know you can volunteer to drive the Zoo train and operate the Zoo carousel? Our volunteers allow us to allocate train and carousel ride sales directly to support the operations of the Henry Vilas Zoo.
Zoo train and carousel operators provide an entertaining and educational experience for Zoo visitors of all ages. Volunteers work either from 9:30am to1:15pm or 12:45pm to 4:30pm. Shifts are available weekdays or weekends between March and November.
